In October 2013, Hanif survived a 20% survival-rate, six-week medically induced coma caused by sickle cell disease. More than 6 million people live with the disease, yet we are still without a cure. On September 15, 2014, Hanif became the seventh person to undergo a pioneering supercharged stem cell transplant. He did not just survive; his life was transformed.
